Electrocardiogram (ECG, EKG)
Overview:
An electrocardiogram (ECG) is a test performed to record your heart’s electrical activity and is used to investigate the presence of heart disease.
Detailed Information:
An ECG allows your doctor to learn about your heart rhythm, the functioning of your heart muscle, and whether you have had a heart attack. An ECG is a painless, non-invasive test that requires the patient to lie still for one minute while heart activity is monitored via electrodes attached to the ECG machine. Depending upon the results, additional tests may be necessary.
