After cardiac arrest
After reuniting with an ex boyfriend that I knew for over 40 years - I contacted him.
We started to see each other and fell in love. It was magical. It was 8 wonderful weeks. But when I took him for a medical exam - he had colon cancer that had spread. Had surgery to remove the block but otherwise felt fine. During the 8 weeks we had decided to marry. But when he got the first chemo he went into cardiac arrest-he was given the portable chemo- it was in a pouch around his waist and when he was ready to go to the hospital to have taken off he suffered cardiac arrest. His son was with him and called 911 but didn't know CPS, therefore he was revived and had angioplasty performed in hospital. But got brain damage. Now he has aphasia _can't put words together. utters a word or two and can't walk and motory skill problems. I think that a stress test should have been done before chemo to see if heart disease was present. His arteries were clogged and nobody knew. Now he is in stage 4 of cancer and can't walk and speak. The chemo without the stress test made it worse. It hurst because we can't have a conversation and he can't write. He just lays there like a vegetable
and the cancer pain hasn't kicked in yet.
I saw him cry yesterday but he couldn't speak about it. We were going to get married and can't even do that. I feel like I lost him so soon. We were like yong teenagers in love. He is 65 and I am 59.
I feel so helpless and hopeless. Maria
